Have you ever heard of a capsule wardrobe? Well the idea has been plauging me for some time and yet did nothing. I continued every morning getting dressed and then an hour or two later changing my mind and getting dressed again. Sometimes this happened 3 or 4 times. Well...enough was enough! It was time to to embark on a new venture - the capsule wardrobe venture.
I emptied my closet of all the clothes, shoes, scarfs, skirts, dresses, and jeans. The pile on the bed was enormous!
I put back the items of clothing that I absolutely LOVED and left the "hem" things on the bed. Surprisingly, this step was easier than I thought it would be. I've gone through my closet many many times while everything was still in my closet and was able to take out the things that I really didn't like, but this way I was able to see exactly what I loved and the things I was only keeping because they were in great condition and I felt like I HAD to keep them.
I ended up with a GIGANTIC pile of clothes, shoes, scarves, etc on my floor, but my closet was oh so clean, neat, and fresh feeling! I was SO happy to have narrowed down my options. And now I can honestly say that getting dressed in the morning has become one of the easiest things ever. I put on one outfit in the morning and stay in that same outfit all day!
Have you done the capsule wardrobe challenge? How did it go for you? Or maybe this post has pushed you to give it a try??
She never thought anything would come of her trip down to Nashville. Brit's purpose in going to Nashville was to see a Blackhawks game, but while there she met someone and never was the same again.
You see, it happened like this. Brit saw CJ's profile on on the Tinder app and decided to swipe right. Later that day Brit and her friend went to the bar later and met CJ in person. Even though they both didn't have much expectation going into it, they had a wonderful time!
They continued getting to know each other long distance. Then one day when Brit went down to see CJ, he left work early and began their time together by treating Brit to all of her favorite things. It started with a Vanilla Cappuccino from Starbucks, some Wine at Arrington Winery and then out to dinner on a rooftop. They ended the day by walking on the Pedestrian Bridge and when they reached the center CJ dropped down on one knee and asked a question that changed their lives forever!
Phil + Laura
Phil and Laura's love story began on a missions trip. They both are a part of the same church denomination (which is actually how I know them!) and every year in Wisconsin there is a missions trip to a Native American Reservation. This week long trip is spent working a Vacation Bible School at the two reservations there. They formed a strong friendship while there...but they were just friends.
Then in 2015, before Phil left for boot camp, Laura came up to Wheaton from Springfield to come to what she thought was a "going away party" for him. However, it lead to what they later called their first date. While Phil was at boot camp Laura wrote him letters and when he finally graduated, they were reunited and Phil didn't waste any time in asking Laura to be his.
"[Our] relationship has been unconventional. It has been fast. It is unexpected. But it is built on years of solid friendship and a desire to serve the Lord better together." ~ Laura Troxel
I was honored to be able to capture their wedding and witness their covenant of marriage before God. It was an absolutely gorgeous day!!
Marielle + Eryk
At the beginning of the year I took Marielle and Eryk's engagement session (you can view it here) and I couldn't wait for their wedding! Marielle got ready for the big day in the house she grew up in with her family all around her and it was the sweetest thing ever! When she was ready, her dad drove her around the corner to the church.
It was a gorgeous day! The light was gracefully pouring in through the windows which made the inside of the church absolutely beautiful!
Their reception was at Mission Hills Country Club and the grounds there were stunning for portraits - I was loving it!
Fred + Katie
Fred and Katie are truly a joy to be around. I think the best man had is right when he said they bring out the joy in each other. When I was working with them for their engagement shoot, they were so positive to be around - even though I had them trudging through wet grass to get a shot I had in my head.
The day of their wedding was absolutely perfect! The sun was out and a nice breeze made it so the outdoor wedding was comfortable for all those in attendance. One of my favorite moments of the ceremony was watching the little flower girl get up off her Grandpa's lap and twirl and explore in the sand right in front of Fred and Katie! It was great!
After the pastor announced them as husband and wife, seeing Katie's beautiful smile when she looked at Fred and their joy as they exited was amazing!
I was so excited for this weekend of the Brennan wedding to finally arrive. After meeting Charles and Stephanie at church one random weekend and then for their engagement shoot, I was blown away by their sweet disposition and caring nature. This held true even on an extremely stressful day - their wedding! I was constantly asked if there was anything more they could do for me and since they had already thought of everything my answer was always "no, I'm good".
The time for the ceremony finally arrived and you could tell both Charles and Stephanie were ready for things to get rolling! It was a wonderful service and in the end....it worked!! They're married! Many blessings to you both!

She was the bride everyone wants to be...beautiful, creative, laid back, friendly, and full of love for her groom! It was so much fun to be included in Michael and Alyssa's wedding day celebration. I'm always amazed and privileged that as a photographer I get a "front row" seat of everything going on during a wedding. I get to be in the front and also behind the stage capturing all of those moments that make the day extra special.
Michael and Alyssa met in college and while their first impression of each other wasn't too great, they soon realized that they did have a common ground and a friendship formed that soon made it's way to Michael popping the question. You can guess the rest...Alyssa said yes and then there was a wedding!!
Congratulations you two! Many blessings on you both!

Charles + Stephanie
For weeks I was looking forward to this lovely engagement session! I was so excited to get to know Charles and Stephanie - their joy for life is super contagious! After the shoot I left feeling a bit more on eagles wings then when I got there.
These two met online while discussing their faith and how it should be played out in the Christian life. After they met face-to-face...the rest is history.
In less than a month they will be getting married and I'm so excited to get to be a part of their big day! Congratulations again!!
As soon as I saw Natalia step out of the car I knew it was going to be a good shoot! She was wearing a floor length white dress and I couldn't have been happier!!
This was the first shoot back after having my first baby at the end of April and boy was it fun to be back behind the camera! I had missed it and I didn't really realize it.
On the day these two lovebirds met, Tony was basically dragged out (all he wanted to do was have an early night, but his friends convinced him to go. Natalia was already at the bar and after they met...well as they say - "the rest is history"!
These two are getting married in a couple months and then they are going to travel the world! I wish I could join them!
I am SOO excited to be sharing this post with you! Last month I participated in a styled shoot and the result from the group of creatives was simply stunning!! I was so impressed with everyone’s amazing ability to produce such quality work and create such a fun working environment. I had such a fun afternoon and I can't wait to plan my own!!
Every last detail of this shoot was meticulously planned by the amazing Grace of True Grace Photography. For months she worked on acquiring vendors, establishing a theme, and finally on the big day captured the afternoon brilliantly! I was so excited when Grace asked me to be her assistant for this shoot! Firstly because it meant that I would be able to work along side a truly gifted photographer, and secondly because I knew I would be able to get some beautiful images from it. If you think these pictures have done justice to the shoot, you should take a look at what Grace was able to capture!
Here is the amazing team that Grace put together for this awesome shoot!!
